- TVS Motor filed a design patent in India for a cafe racer based on the Ronin model
- The new design closely resembles the 2024 Ronin Factory Custom cafe racer concept
- The cafe racer features clip-on handlebars, a single seat, and a sporty riding posture
TVS Motor Company has filed a design patent in India for a new cafe racer-style motorcycle based on the Ronin. This hints at the brand's new motorcycle, which will likely be based on the manufacturer's 225cc platform. While there is no official confirmation of a market launch yet, the patent underlines TVS' intent to explore a more focused, retro-sporty derivative of its existing roadster.
The newly patented design closely mirrors the TVS Ronin Factory Custom cafe racer that was showcased in late 2024, suggesting that the company has moved to protect the styling of that concept. Unlike many patents that remain on paper for years, this filing follows soon after the concept's public debut, indicating that the design is production-feasible. However, even if its commercial future remains uncertain.

The cafe racer concept departs notably from the standard Ronin's laid-back stance, adopting what looks like clip-on handlebars, a tighter front-end rake and rear-set footpegs to deliver a more committed riding position. A bikini fairing around the headlamp and a single-seat layout with a rear cowl reinforce the classic cafe racer silhouette, while a sharply integrated rear fender and tail-light further distinguish it from the stock bike. The exhaust end-can is also different in shape and finish, giving the motorcycle a sportier visual identity without altering its basic mechanical architecture.

Under the new bodywork, the patented cafe racer will likely continue to rely on the same 225cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine used in the production Ronin. In its current form, this unit puts out 20.4 hp and 19.9 Nm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox, figures that are expected to remain unchanged on the cafe racer derivative. With the chassis, suspension and braking hardware also likely to be carried over, the focus of this model appears to be primarily on design and rider ergonomics rather than performance upgrades.
TVS has not yet indicated whether the Ronin-based cafe racer will reach showrooms, and the patent alone does not guarantee a launch. However, if the company does decide to green-light it, the bike could become a unique factory-built cafe racer in the 200-250cc segment, offering enthusiasts a styled-to-order alternative to aftermarket custom builds.
