Mahindra is preparing a fresh lineup of SUVs built on its new multi-energy, modular NU IQ platform. The company showcased concept models-Vision S, Vision T, Vision X, and Vision SXT-back in August. Road testing has now begun for the Vision S, which is expected to serve as a compact sibling to the Scorpio. Recent spy shots have revealed its front, side, and rear profiles, offering the first glimpse of what Mahindra's upcoming SUV could look like on Indian roads. Positioned strategically, the Vision S will directly rival the recently launched Tata Sierra SUV.

Fresh spy shots of the Mahindra Vision S highlight its boxy silhouette, upright fascia, and flat bonnet. The test mule sports round headlamps paired with a vertically-slatted grille, while integrated LED DRLs appear to echo the design seen on the Thar Roxx. A radar module positioned on the lower grille further suggests the SUV will feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), marking a modern upgrade to Mahindra's upcoming compact SUV offering. The camouflaged Vision S also shows rectangular fog lamps, high ground clearance aided by large wheels and suspension.

One of the Vision S's standout traits is its high ground clearance, achieved through large wheels, high-profile tyres, and a long-travel suspension setup. Mahindra is also expected to equip the SUV with a 5-link rear independent suspension, enhancing stability and delivering improved ride comfort across rough terrain and everyday driving conditions.

The Mahindra Vision S offers a commanding view thanks to its high ground clearance and expansive glass surfaces. At the rear, vertically stacked rectangular tail lamps stand out, complemented by a flat windscreen and a clean, understated bumper design. Adding to its sporty character, a spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate, reinforcing the SUV's rugged appeal while highlighting Mahindra's focus on practicality and bold styling cues.

Recent spy shots have offered a closer look at the Mahindra Vision S's interiors, revealing a panoramic sunroof as a standout feature. Dual 12.3-inch screens dominate the futuristic dashboard, complemented by neatly arranged physical buttons and uniquely styled AC vents. The SUV also sports a new three-spoke, dual-tone steering wheel. Advanced features expected include seat heating, hill descent control, traction control, differential lock, off-road modes, and a terrain selector. Higher trims are likely to offer dual-zone climate control, while soft-touch materials enhance cabin quality. A flat-floor design, unique for an ICE SUV, promises improved comfort and spaciousness.

Mahindra has yet to disclose official powertrain details for the Vision S. However, the SUV is expected to debut with internal combustion options, likely including a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. Looking ahead, Mahindra may also introduce hybrid and fully electric variants, broadening the Vision S's appeal and aligning with evolving market demands for cleaner, more versatile mobility solutions in the coming years.
