Tata Motors reintroduced the Sierra nameplate in November 2025, reviving one of India's most iconic SUVs. The relaunch generated considerable excitement, with enthusiasts eager to see how the modern version would carry forward the legacy of the original. Now, fresh videos have surfaced online showcasing what is claimed to be the first CNG conversion of the new Sierra.
The project comes from Sai Fuel, a CNG kit specialist based in Vadodara, Gujarat. Their videos detail the step-by-step process of converting a Sierra Adventure Plus variant, which is powered by Tata's 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine. This unit produces 106 hp and 145 Nm and is paired with a manual gearbox.
For the conversion, the team opted for a EuropeGAS injection controller, manufactured in Poland, citing compatibility with the engine. The installation process was carried out using proper sockets and connectors, with no wires cut during the procedure. Interestingly, the conversion also involved changes to the Engine Control Module (ECM), with two ECMs reportedly being installed to manage the dual-fuel setup.
The CNG tank has been positioned in the Sierra's boot, which offers a generous 662 litres of space measured to the roof. While the videos do not specify the exact tank capacity, the available room ensures that the installation does not compromise practicality. Footage also shows the routing of CNG lines between the engine bay and boot area.

However, the conversion has not been without hiccups. Another video shared by the same handle highlights issues that appeared post-installation. The SUV's instrument cluster displayed an odometer reading stuck at 99,999 km, despite the vehicle initially having fewer than 100 km on the clock. Additionally, the sunroof reportedly malfunctioned after the conversion. It remains unclear whether these glitches are directly linked to the CNG kit installation or unrelated electrical issues.
