Anurag Dwivedi a social media creator who promoted the betting and gambling apps

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided the house of a YouTuber in Uttar Pradesh to find multiple high-end cars. The social media content creator, Anurag Dwivedi, has been accused of making a huge amount of money from online betting and gambling apps. The investigation is focused on the money trail and illegal earnings sourced from a gambling network.

A significant part of the income that Dwivedi generated came from Sky Exchange and other gambling applications, according to NDTV's report. These applications enable users to make online bets, which is considered illegal in India. Authorities stated that the profits from these applications were laundered through various methods and subsequently used to purchase luxury automobiles and other high-priced items.

Among the aforementioned models, the Lamborghini Urus is the most expensive car. At the time of launch in India, it had a price tag of Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom). The car is among the best-selling models of the performance car manufacturer and is known for its sporty performance and the capability to go off-road. It is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that makes 650 hp and 850Nm of torque, and is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The second most expensive car on the list is the BMW Z4. It is currently sold in India at a starting price of Rs 87.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The convertible seeks power from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six cylinder engine, which produces 340 hp of power and 500 Nm of peak torque. The power is routed to the rear wheels using an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Enforcement Directorate acted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Dwivedi attempted to conceal the assets acquired with illegal funds and to legitimize them. The ED searched his residence in Unnao to discover all these assets.

Dwivedi operates a YouTube channel where he has advertised betting and gambling applications. This resulted in a significant number of individuals registering for these apps, which further widened the scope of illegal activities, according to the ED.

The ED is attempting to determine who else is part of the network, the amount of money that was earned through illegal means, and how it was invested. Additional seizures of assets or actions against other individuals may occur in the near future.

The West Bengal Police also searched Siliguri. They discovered more suspects, identified as Sonu Kumar Thakur and Vishal Bhardwaj, who utilized mule bank accounts, Telegram channels, and other online platforms for executing betting and gambling operations.
