Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the all-new Ioniq 3, a compact electric hatchback designed primarily for European markets. Positioned as an accessible EV, the Ioniq 3 focuses on practicality, efficiency, and everyday usability, while expanding the brand's growing electric portfolio. Positioned between the Hyundai Inster EV and the Kona electric, the Hyundai Ioniq 3 will be the brand's smallest Ioniq till date. 

Design

The Hyundai Ioniq 3 introduces Hyundai's new 'Art of Steel' design language, giving the hatchback a clean yet futuristic appearance. It features a sleek front fascia, pixel-inspired lighting elements, and a distinctive aerodynamic silhouette. Hyundai calls it an "Aero Hatch," designed to balance efficiency with interior space. With a drag coefficient of 0.263, the car is engineered for improved aerodynamics. Despite its compact footprint, the long roofline and flat-floor architecture help maximise cabin space.

Battery and Performance

Built on Hyundai's E-GMP platform, the Ioniq 3 comes with two battery options. The standard variant gets a 42.2 kWh battery pack with a WLTP range of up to 344 km. Meanwhile, the long-range version features a larger 61 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of up to 496 km.

The EV is powered by a single front-mounted motor, producing up to 147 hp in the standard model and 135 hp in the long-range version. Both variants deliver 250 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 170 km/h. Fast charging allows the battery to go from 10 to 80 per cent in around 29 minutes under optimal conditions.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Hyundai Ioniq 3 focuses on space and comfort with a "Furnished Space" layout. The cabin offers generous legroom and headroom, along with a 441-litre boot and an additional 'Megabox' storage compartment.

It is also the first Hyundai model in Europe to feature the new Pleos Connect infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS. Depending on the variant, it gets a 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch display. Other highlights include a Bose premium sound system, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and digital key functionality.

Safety and Technology

The Ioniq 3 comes equipped with Hyundai SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems. Key features include Highway Driving Assist 2, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and Remote Smart Parking Assist. The car also gets multiple airbags and enhanced lighting systems to improve visibility and safety.
