BMW has teased its Concept Skytop in India, indicating that this limited-edition two-seater will be released soon. The automaker posted new images on social media, sparking renewed interest in the model after a seven-month pause. The Skytop is inspired by the classic BMW Z8 and 503 and it was first revealed at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Let's look at the features, powertrain and price of the limited-edition two-seater.

BMW Concept Skytop: Exterior

The Concept Skytop showcases a distinct shark-nose front and sleek tail lights, inspired by the Z8 roadster. Its carefully designed hood, compact headlights, and flat rear design harken back to classic models from the 1950s. The ultra-slim LED taillights and extremely narrow headlights are noted in the teased photos. Overall, its stance and proportions reflect those of the 8 Series, BMW's flagship model.

BMW Concept Skytop: Interior

Inside, the Skytop's cabin closely resembles that of the 8 Series, featuring a similar dashboard layout. It includes standard items like a digital instrument display, an infotainment screen, a control stack, and a gear selector. Unique features include a roll bar behind the seats and retractable windows. Its Targa top design allows the two-piece roof to be taken off and stored in the trunk. The interior is dressed in rich reddish-brown leather, preserving a two-seat format. Elegant crystal details and high-quality materials blend the exterior and interior beautifully, especially when the roof is down.

BMW Concept Skytop: Powertrain and Performance

The heart of the Skytop is a powerful 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that generates 617 hp, similar to the output of the M8 Competition and just below that of the M5 CS. It features an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 3.3 seconds.

BMW Concept Skytop: Price

Like the custom-built BMW 3.0 CSL, the Skytop is produced with a focus on personalization through specialized craftsmanship. The price is set at around €500,000 (approximately Rs 4.61 crore) in international markets, but details about pricing in India are yet to be released.
