Aprilia SR 175 scooter has been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 1.26 lakh (ex-showroom). It replaces the SR 160 in the brand's lineup. While the scooter shares similar sporty styling with its predecessor, it features changes to its powertrain aimed at enhancing performance by generating more power. As implemented by the name, it now has a bigger engine with a bigger displacement.

Specifically, the Aprilia SR 175 is now powered by a 174.7 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with a three-valve setup. The changes incorporated in the engine come in the form of a larger bore, increasing the power from 11.27 hp in SR 160 to 12.92 hp at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. While the SR 160 had a 13.44 Nm of peak torque.

As mentioned earlier, the Aprilia SR 175 shares similarities with the SR 160. However, to improve its aesthetic appeal, the brand has added a new paint scheme inspired by the middle-weight sport bike RS 457. This is in the form of a white with red and the other with purple with red. This, combined with the sporty design, makes it step into the territory of the Hero Xoom 160 and the Yamaha Aerox 155.

One significant update to the SR 175 is the introduction of a color TFT display, which resembles the unit found on the RS 457 and Tuono 457. However, the interface and animations differ noticeably. Similar to the 457 models, the display includes Bluetooth connectivity, enabling smartphone pairing through the Aprilia app for call notifications, alerts, and music management.

In terms of mechanics, the components, such as the frame, suspension, brakes, and tires, seem to remain the same as those of the SR 160. The scooter is equipped with 14-inch wheels on both the front and rear, fitted with wide 120-section tires. Braking is managed by a front disc featuring single-channel ABS, along with a rear drum brake.
