Police seize large cache of ammonium nitrate in poll-bound Rajasthan

Jaipur: Police on Sunday seized over 10,000 kgs of explosive ammonium nitrate and detonators from a house during a raid in a village in Alwar district as part of a special pre-poll drive in Rajasthan. Police suspect that the explosives were meant for illegal mining.

The seizure was made from Bilhori village in Alwar, nearly 150 kms from Jaipur.

207 sacs containing 50 kg each of ammonium nitrate, two bundles of fuse wire and detonators were found during the raid as part of a drive against illegal weapons and explosives ahead of December election in the state, police said, adding three persons have been booked in this regard.

Police were looking for four suspects, Jakaria Mev, Ruzdar and Kalli. A probe is on, they said.
