PM's Radio Address, 'Man ki Baat': Highlights

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his first radio address today.

New Delhi: The Prime Minister addressed the country today in his first radio address titled "Man Ki Baat." He said he plans to hold regular radio chats with the country, Sundays at 11 am.

Here are highlights of his address:
 
  • Today is Vijaya Dashmi. My greetings to all of you. This day celebrates the victory of good over evil.
  • I will try to speak to you once or twice a month on Sundays at 11 AM.
  • We must promote the use of Khadi. Buy at least one Khadi product. It will help the poor.
  • If you buy Khadi you light the lamp of prosperity in the house of a poor person.
  • Yesterday we began the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. I want everyone to join this campaign.
  • Through the successful Mars mission, our scientists have shown our strength and pride.
  • We have to understand ourselves better and integrate our strengths. We are not lacking in strength.
  • Till we start walking, there will be no one to show us the way. We have to take the initiative.
  • Even Swami Vivekanand has said that we are all skilled, but we must understand our skills.
  • This country belongs to the citizens, not the government. People should come together.
  • This nation belongs to everyone. It is important for people to be a part of the development journey.
  • On mail, lot of people wrote to me that children should begin skill development courses at a very young age. This is a good suggestion.
  • Some wrote to me that we should have more dustbins. This is also a good point.
