Robbery at gold loan company

Ahmedabad: The KK Nagar, Ghatlodia branch of Mannapuram Finance Company, which has several offices in the city and the state, was the scene of a daring robbery in which Rs 13.5 lakh were stolen. But a huge amount of gold, 25,175 gms in all, which was also in the safe, was left untouched.

The area manager of the firm Sanju Velu, in his complaint to the Ghatlodia police, has stated that on the afternoon of December 16, it was found that the money which was under lock and key, had 'disappeared' from the office locker. Three staff members were jointly responsible for the cash and valuables.

Assistant manager Prakrutiben Patel, Sujata, who was responsible for the money in custody and Rushika Patel, who kept the spare key to the locker, are under suspicion though the police have not made any move to apprehend anyone so far. The probe into the crime have only just begun.

Two electricians have also been named in the complaint. There were 2700 various denominations of notes (and 729 packets of gold in the locker) which vanished on December 16 at about 2pm. Another assistant manager of the company, Satyanarayan, was away for lunch during this period and so he has not been named in the complaint.
