Speaker attempts to break impasse over JPC

Speaker attempts to break impasse over JPC
New Delhi: After a wasted session of Parliament this winter and fears that the deadlock between the Opposition and Government could impact the budget session as well, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar met top BJP leaders on Thursday to try and break the deadlock in Parliament over demand for Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into 2G spectrum scam.

"Both the government and main Opposition BJP are very keen to ensure smooth functioning of Budget session of Parliament," she said after meeting their representatives.

"I am optimistic that something positive will emerge," she added.

Senior BJP leader LK Advani and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj also attended the meeting.

The BJP is adamant about a JPC probe into 2G scam but with their own partyman MM Joshi going ahead with the PAC inquiry, the party may have to face questions regarding their demand. (With PTI Inputs)
