Sohrabuddin case: CBI summons former Gujarat top cop PC Pande

Ahmedabad: Former DGP of Gujarat, PC Pande has been summoned for questioning by the CBI in connection with the murder of Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausar Bi. He has been asked to appear before it on August 11.

The CBI wants to find out whether Pande tried to influence the investigation in any way. He was the DGP when the state CID was investigating the fake encounter case.

This is for the first time Pande has been called for questioning by the CBI. It had earlier questioned other IPS officers, including GC Raigar and OP Mathur.

There have been allegations that some police officials of Gujarat in collusion with top politicians like Narendra Modi's aide Amit Shah, had tried to influence the probe.

The Supreme Court handed over the fake encounter case to CBI in January this year. The investigating agency has so far arrested former minister of state for Home Amit Shah, IPS officer Abhay Chudasama and owners of Arham farm Rajendra Jirawala in the case.
