Pakistan Fires All Night, Targets 30 Border Posts in Jammu

Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing in the Samba sector in Jammu

Jammu: Pakistani troops targeted 30 Indian posts and some villages along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba and Kathua districts in firing overnight, injuring four civilians.

Pakistani Rangers used 82 mm mortars and heavy machine guns to target border posts and around two dozen villages in the Ramgarh, Samba, Kathua and Hiranagar sectors. The Border Security Force (BSF) strongly retaliated, resulting in a heavy exchange of fire which continued till 5 am today.

Several houses and shops have been damaged in the shelling.

"At least 60 mortars have landed on our village since Saturday. There is fear, everybody is scared", Parveen Kumar, a local resident, said on Sunday.

A civilian was killed in Pakistani firing on Friday.

"People living in the border area are very scared and want to migrate to safer places," Charan Singh, another resident, had told NDTV.
