Opposition disrupts Karnataka Assembly again

Bangalore: The Opposition in Karnataka seems determined to not allow the Assembly to function and continued with protests and sloganeering in the well of the House. For a second day in a row, the Assembly was adjourned for the day.

On Monday, the Assembly Session was adjourned over continued ruckus as the Opposition MLA's marched into the well of the House to protest their not being allowed to discuss corruption allegations against the Chief Minister.

Today, they went to the well again, this time it was over the election of the deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly that was conducted amidst the chaos.

Yogish Bhat was finally elected to the post. However, the Opposition legislators clarified they were not against the Deputy Speaker but were against the election procedure that should not have been carried out with the House not in order and with so many MLAs disqualified and their cases in Court.

Late last year, dissidence in the ruling BJP in the state had led to the disqualification of MLAs.

Meanwhile, in an attempt to mellow down the Opposition's attack, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa said he was ready for a discussion on allegations based on the directions of the Speaker.

But the leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Siddaramaiah ignored the CM's claims saying 'Karnataka is number one corrupt in the entire country'.

Seeing the Opposition's repeated attacks, It appeared that BS Yeddyurappa too could not keep his clam as he shot back at Siddaramaiah alleging Congress instead for corruption in the state and Centre.
