General VK Singh addressing a press conference

New Delhi:

Minister of State for External Affairs General VK Singh today clarified that his tweets about "disgust" and "duty" after attending Pakistan Day celebrations were directed at sections of media who had questioned his government's stand.

Following are the highlights of his press conference:

  • I am a loyal member of the party
  • Attending Pakistan Day celebrations was protocol
  • Uncalled for media lashing and questioning my nationalistic credentials
  • Some said Army has been demotivated but as an ex-Chief of Army staff I know my men better
  • Even though my party and government understood the issue, media was hyperventilating
  • My tweets were directed at sections of media who questioned my government's stand
  • Shocked at the way certain section of media attacked my PM and government
  • I have not offered to resign nor was I asked to do so
  • There should be no doubt on how I stand on government policies
