Jammu:
The People's Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti said today that there are a lot of similarities between Egypt and Kashmir and the Egypt revolution can impact Kashmir as well.
"I would like to congratulate the people of Egypt. It's necessary to mention Eqypt because there are lot of similarities. They were fighting for democracy, we are fighting in spite of democracy. We have been fighting for the last 60 years," she said while addressing a press conference in Srinagar.
Reacting to Mehbooba Mufti's statement, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah tweeted, "Mehbooba Mufti calls for Kashmiris to replicate Egypt. Seems she wants army rule as well since her party is in opposition now."
The PDP will hold state-wide protest demonstrations in J&K on Monday to press for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
The party is renewing its demand for reunification of J&K and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
