DDA flats to be allotted next month

New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority will commence from next month allotment of flats, held up due to allegations of rigging, after a government agency gave a clean chit to the software used for draw of lots.

The report prepared by the C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram has not found any evidence of rigging in the software after analysing the hard discs of computers used in draw of lots for allotting nearly 5,000 flats.

The process of issuance of allotment letters will commence in November itself. The persons who fall within the purview of the investigation as mentioned above, will not be issued any allotment letter till the investigating agency clears these cases, the DDA said in a statement.

The scheme ran into a controversy after it came to light that a former DDA official and some others managed to get allotments of some flats reserved for scheduled tribes and scheduled castes.

Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had arrested nine persons who allegedly used forged documents and filled in forms by inducing poor and illiterate persons with a view to corner maximum flats in bargain and caused wrongful gain for themselves.

The report comprises investigations by EOW, software report and also report from C-DAC. It does not indicate any connivance or favouritism by any DDA serving officers or those connected with the draw.
