Kolkata:

Burdwan blast accused Abdul Wahab Momin, who was arrested on Saturday from Kolkata, has been remanded to 10 days NIA custody.

Chief Judge of City Sessions Court Mohammad Mumtaz Khan remanded Momin to 10 days of NIA custody after he was produced in court.

Counsel for NIA Shyamal Ghosh told the court that Momin was absconding from the date of the blast, and was helping members of the JMB terror groups of Bangladesh by giving them shelter in the state.

He alleged that Momin also had connection with another JMB operative who was now under arrest in connection with the same case.

The NIA counsel requested for a remand of 10 days for further investigation.

The accused told the court that he was a resident of Murshidabad in West Bengal. When asked by the judge whether he would like to say anything in his defence, he replied in the negative.

Momin, who was on the run since last year, was apprehended from Sealdah in central Kolkata on Saturday evening.

The blast had taken place inside a house in West Bengal's Burdwan on October 2, 2014, leaving two persons dead.
