Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said 450 km high speed access controlled expressway from Amritsar to New Delhi will soon be a reality as Centre has agreed in principle for upgrade and strengthening of the old grand trunk road NH-1.

In a statement, the chief minister said the government is paying special attention to inclusive development of state and very soon roads across Punjab would be made 4-6 lanes expressways.
Works on major expressways connecting corporation towns would be launched soon.
Mr Badal said every village, hospital and school of the state would be equipped with the 4G connectivity by January 15 and Punjab will be the only state in the country to achieve this.
He further said Punjab's e-governance initiatives have been recognized by the Centre which has given e-governance and e-district awards to the state.
Mr Badal said the Punjab government would go paperless and all the business would go online within next 6 months.
He added that by April 1, 2016 there will be 2,174 sewa kendars and people would get 200 services at one place.
He added the government would provide 100 per cent water supply and sewerage facilities to all towns in the state.
Listing out the achievements of SAD-BJP alliance, the chief minister informed the government has established a centralized office of CEO Invest Punjab from where all the necessary clearances could be taken within 30 days to start new business ventures in the state.
He said the state has now become power surplus with the investments worth Rs 30,000 crore being made in the sector.
Divulging other fields, he said in New Chandigarh, biggest medicity is being developed where the King's college London would build an institution.
Besides, big names like - Max and Apollo - are also setting up their medical ventures there.
