Chennai:
One person was killed and another seriously injured, as a crane crashed and fell on two workers at airport expansion site near the domestic terminal.
45 year old Selvamani, who hailed from Ennore in north Chennai, died en-route to the hospital. Identity of the second person hospitalized is not known as of now. Airport officials said that they are probing the cause of the mishap.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed for some time near the airport area when over 100 taxi drivers blocked vehicular traffic, protesting against the demolition of a small temple near the highway leading to airport. Road traffic was disturbed for almost an hour in the area. The Police had to then intervene to resolve the crisis and later took them into custody.
