Saurav Ganguly has not been famous for his diplomacy, but on Saturday night he was at his diplomatic best during a mob attack in south Kolkata.
A violent mob, protesting against a road accident in south Kolkata, stopped the former captain's car and started thrashing his driver when he tried to get past the blockade.
Sourav, who was travelling with his daughter Sana, got out of the car and first saved his driver and then argued with the angry mob for quite some time before they finally allowed their car to pass.
The mob was protesting the death of a youth in an accident in the area.
The ace Bengal cricketer who was returning from a dinner at Park Street was not harmed.
A youth was killed in an accident near Behala Chourasta resulting in a protest by locals, police said.
The incident happened around 11.30 pm when Ganguly's car was about to enter a lane leading to his house. (With PTI inputs)
