Supreme Court dismisses corruption case against Naidu
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has dismissed a corruption case against TDP supremo and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu.

In 2002, a Congress activist had filed a complaint in the Anti-Corruption Wing against the then Chief Minister and 17 others, alleging irregularities in allotting liquor licenses, causing losses of over Rs 500 crore to the state exchequer.

A Special Court referred the matter for investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Former Excise Minister Mr. Nageswara Rao and others approached AP High Court against the special court order, which quashed the investigation.

This was challenged in the Andhra Pradesh High Court by the accused. The Andhra Pradesh High Court struck down the complaint.

The complainant then filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the High Court's verdict.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the High Court order and observed, "the complaint is politically motivated and there is nothing wrong in fixation of liquor price."
