Sangla first tribal village in HP to have sewerage scheme

Shimla: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday said Sangla valley in Himachal Pradesh would have a modern sewerage system.

A sewerage scheme for tribal village Sangla was started during the tenure of Congress, but the erstwhile BJP government failed to launch it, Mr Singh said while addressing a rally at Sangla and stressed the project would be completed soon and made operational.

The Chief Minister said the state government was considering restoration of TD (Timber Distribution) rights to tribal people.

Suggestions have been sought from people for taking an appropriate decision in this regard, he said.

Directing Gram Panchayats to check random, haphazard and unauthorised construction of houses along roads and ensure all construction was done as per guidelines of the Town and Country Planning department, Mr Singh said this would help in smooth operation of traffic besides boosting tourism activities.

The Chief Minister directed Irrigation and Public Health department to conduct a feasibility study of an irrigation scheme for Sangla by lifting water from Kharogla Khudd.

Lambasting the earlier government, Mr Singh said corruption was at its peak during the BJP regime.
