Rain Brings Respite From Scorching Heat in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Light to moderate rains accompanied by thundershowers today brought respite from scorching heat in parts of Uttar Pradesh even as Orai in Jalaun district recorded the maximum day temperature at 45 degrees Celsius.

According to MeT office, chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms was Kanpur, Ankinghat, Kannauj, Etawah, Fatehgarh, Banda and Meerut one each.

Day temperatures fell markedly in Bareilly, Moradabad, Agra, Meerut divisions, appreciably in Lucknow division, rose markedly in Allahabad division and changed little in the remaining divisions of the state.

It was appreciably above normal in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad divisions, appreciably below normal in Bareilly, Moradabad and Agra divisions and normal in the remaining divisions of the state.

MeT office, in a forecast, said rain and thundershowers may occur at isolated places over the state during next 24 hours.
