Patna: The Patna High Court has stayed a decision by the Bihar Assembly speaker to terminate the membership of four rebel Janta Dal (United) MLAs, accused of anti-party activities.

In November, the speaker had terminated the membership of the four MLAs, who were accused of cross voting in the recently held Rajya Sabha elections.  These four MLAs were suspended by the JD(U) earlier in the year.

The four MLAs had moved the Patna High Court challenging the decision. Sources say the Assembly speaker is likely to appeal against the decision.

In December, another set of four MLAs, also from the JD(U) and also accused of anti-party activities, also lost their Vidhan Sabha membership after a ruling by the speaker. Those MLA's have also approached the Patna High Court separately.
