Is the LTTE targeting the Indian Prime Minister?
New Delhi: The Tamil Nadu police has warned of possible strikes by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Karunanidhi and Home Secretary G K Pillai.

The Tamil Nadu police has reportedly sent these alerts to the Union Home Ministry. However, central security agencies cannot verify the authenticity of this threat.

Reports suggest that some cadres of the LTTE, who escaped the wrath of the Sri Lankan Army during the all-out operations in the island nation in 2009, are trying to regroup and planning to launch spectacular strikes on high-profile targets.

The LTTE was responsible for the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991.
