New Delhi: Aviation regulator on Saturday issued a show cause notice to 131 Jet Airways pilots for not clearing the mandatory bi-annual proficiency check.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) asked the pilots why their licenses should not be suspended for not clearing their Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC) tests.

The DGCA's show cause notice was also issued to the airline's chief training officer which questioned the pilot's training program.

The notices were issued after an audit of the airline's training program was conducted by a three-member DGCA team.

The audit was ordered after one of the airline's aircraft plunged nearly 5,000 feet over the Turkish airspace on the Brussels-Mumbai route last month.

When contacted a Jet Airways spokesperson denied being issued such a show cause notice by the DGCA.
