Alleged Ragging at Gwalior School: Teen Continues to Fight For Life, Probe Ordered

A Bihar minister's son, 14, allegedly ragged at Scindia School in Gwalior.

Gwalior: A Bihar minister's claim that his 14-year-old son was harassed by his seniors at the famous Scindia School in Gwalior will be probed a committee formed by the District Magistrate.

The teenager, who was moved to a Delhi hospital on Thursday, continues to fight for his life. A statement issued by the hospital this morning said that his condition is critical and he continues to be on ventilator support in the ICU.

The minister, Jai Kumar Singh, told news agency Press Trust of India that school officials claimed his son had tried to kill himself.

"But, I strongly dispute this," he was quoted as saying. "Even doctors attending on him at Apollo hospital said it does not seems a case of suicide but that of a case of him being throttled," he alleged.

The minister said that he has not filed a police case against the school because he is focussing on his son's recovery.

"He's in critical condition in the ICU. We are waiting for him to normalize. We will share clear information when he gets well," a relative of the boy said today.

Meanwhile, the Gwalior police also started investigation in the case after the school administration late on Friday night submitted an application to the police.

A forensic team was expected to visit the school for investigation today.
