'60 Minutes' with the real Mark Zuckerburg

'60 Minutes' with the real Mark Zuckerburg
500 million people. As they said on the show, the world's third-largest population, after only India and China. That and a new profile layout that I finally liked. Close on the heels of a movie that both my kids, seven years apart, really liked.

Mark Zuckerburg on CBS' show 60 Minutes in the US to introduce the new Facebook changes made for a Catch. Have found two segments in reasonably good condition on YouTube and Mark is earnest as ever.

Billionaire Mark is at pains to explain that Facebook does not "sell your information." He is also here to try and demolish some other notions.

The highlight and so the popular buzz is of course his saying that he did not build Facebook to "get the girls." He said the film "The Social Network", based on him got that part wrong, though it did get every last T-shirt and his sandals right. To drive home the point the 26-year-old, "They completely left out the fact that my girlfriend I've been dating since before I started Facebook."

Zuckerburg, for those who came in late, was 19 when he built what would soon be the world's largest meeting place.

Zuckerburg is also dismissive about the dispute with the Winklevoss brothers over the idea of Facebook. The twins, Taylor and Cameron, who attended Harvard with Zuckerburg, claimed he took their idea and Mark settled. The film focused on the dispute and CBS caught up with them for their version.

And there is a eerie similarity between the reel and real in the case of the Winklevoss twins. The casting there was spot on... and the Winklevoss twins (who got a $65 million settlement from Zukerberg, but are now suing him for more) say even they can't afford not being on Facebook.

Also catch Mark in his fief - his workplace - where a structured chaos seems to be courted to drive those ideas that have built his empire. Catch him explain why the word "Hack" has the most positive connotations in a geek's world. And, well, lots more.
