Spare One Day a Month to Clean Surroundings: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today urged people of the state to spend at least one day every month to clean their neighborhood.

Mr Naidu, while inaugurating the Swachh Andhra Pradesh programme said, in countries like Japan and Singapore, people are very well aware of the importance of hygiene and cleanliness.

Mr Naidu urged people to maintain cleanliness and follow environmental ethics as a part of Swachh Andhra Pradesh.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said his government has taken up the work to create electricity from waste on prority and it was already being done in many towns of Andhra Pradesh.

"Twelve alternate power plants are being launched in Andhra Pradesh, which will consume 77 per cent of the solid waste generated across the state," he said.

Before launching the event, Mr Naidu paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 146th birth anniversary at his statue at Jinnah Tower in the city.

On the occasion, he said everybody should follow Gandhiji's path, who believed in truth, discipline and
cleanliness.

Mr Naidu also inaugurated a real estate expo organised by Apreda (Andhra Pradesh Real Estate Developers' Association) in Guntur.
