PM Narendra Modi Reviews Railway Projects in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the pending railway projects in Andhra Pradesh through a video conference with Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao.

The interaction took place under the PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance And Timely Implementation), the PM's ambitious interactive platform which is aimed at monitoring and reviewing important programmes and projects.

The chief secretary briefed the prime minister of the proposed railway line between Nadikudi and Srikalahasthi, said a state government statement here.

He informed PM Modi that the Andhra Pradesh government is proactively pursing with the railways to complete the project on time and willing to handover the acquired land. He also informed that compensatory forest land has also identified and joint inspection already been done by the state government and railway authorities.

Railway Board Chairman AK Mittal also briefed PM Modi about the project. He said total estimates were being prepared and tenders were to be finalized. He said all steps were being made to complete the project at the earliest within two years.

In the railway budget for the current financial year, Rs 110 crore was sanctioned for Nadikudi-Srikalahasti line, spanning 308 km. The project is estimated to cost Rs  2,452 crore.

Appreciating the efforts made by the government of Andhra Pradesh, the prime minister suggested to the state to adopt the modern technology to complete the railway project within the estimated period.
