My ISI handler used US cell number to stay in touch: Headley
Chicago: As the days of the trial of Tahawwur Rana, co-accused of the 26/11 attacks, pass by, startling revelations are being brought to light by the star witness in the case, David Coleman Headley.

On day 4 of his trial at the Chicago court on Thursday, Headley - another co-accused - told the prosecutors that his handler from Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Major Iqbal, used a unique cell phone with a US number to stay in touch with him from Pakistan while he was in Mumbai.

Prosecutor: It (Iqbal's phone) was a fairly unique cell phone?

Headley: Major Iqbal had a unique cell phone (with US number). Through that he contacted me when I was in India. He gave me the number.

Prosecutor: He told if something important call us on this number?

Headley: I had a cell phone in India. If it was urgent, he would call me.

Headley had earlier said that Iqbal used the number when he was making videos and scouting suitable landing sites for the terrorists that would attack the city.

Asked by prosecution why the mysterious Major Iqbal had a US phone number, Headley said it was because he believed most phone calls between Pakistan and India were monitored.
