Larry The Cat Reacts As Rishi Sunaks Moves Into Downing Street With Pet Dog

Rishi Sunak, the newly appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has moved into 10 Downing Street with his family after assuming office last week. Besides the PM's wife Akshata and their two daughters, the new residents include his pet, a fox-red Labrador retriever named Nova. As pictures of the family with their pet were shared on the Internet, it elicited a reaction from Larry the Cat, who doesn't seem quite pleased by the new member.

Sharing a photo of Rishi Sunak with Nova on Twitter, the Chief Mousier to the Cabinet Office wrote, “ANOTHER dog?! Bring back Liz Truss…”

The post by an irked Larry the Cat prompted many users to respond on the platform.

“Dang. Though I trust the Lab is of a good-natured temper, and wise enough to know who rules at No. 10,” a user wrote.

Another user motivated Larry that he will be able to deal with the new dog.

One person warned Larry and wrote, “I hope you have a good lawyer, or a decent worker's comp package; this does NOT look like safe working conditions!!”

“Yes but you are still the first cat,” a comment read.

Another said, “Larry, the dog seems to walk politely on the lead so I don't think you will have difficulty in gently asserting that you are the boss.”

One user joked, “Chase it off like you did the fox. There is only room for 1 pet in number 10”.

Some suggested that Larry the Cat and Nova could live together without any dispute.

Another person wrote, “Labradors are usually very friendly dogs. Otherwise you just keep to the cat-friendly people around No 10”.

Before Nova, the former Prime Minister of the UK Boris Johnson had brought his pet Dilyn, a Jack Russell Cross breed dog, into the official London residence in 2019. And, even at that time, the cat was not willing to welcome the new member as he wrote, “Confirmation that Downing Street is going to the dogs....” on Twitter.
