The controversy over the Tamil state anthem, Tamil Thai Vazhthu, has intensified in Tamil Nadu, with 21 INDIA bloc MPs writing to the Governor, demanding that the established protocol be restored.
Congress and VCK MPs have urged the Governor to ensure that all government and university functions begin with Tamizh Thai Vaazhthu, in line with long-standing state convention.
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said the official state protocol clearly mandates that government functions commence with the Tamil state anthem and called for the practice to be followed without exception.
The row has sparked a fresh political debate over tradition, protocol, and the role of constitutional authorities in Tamil Nadu.
