French President Macron, Canadian PM Carney Deepen Canada-France Ties Amid US Trade Tensions

French President Emmanuel Macron hosted Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon as France and Canada seek to strengthen economic and defence ties. Macron said the talks would give greater substance to the strategic partnership between the two countries as Canada moves closer to Europe. Key areas include critical minerals, rare earths, energy, liquefied natural gas, aerospace, advanced technology and defence cooperation.
