In an exclusive interview with NDTV, former Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi opened up about his last-minute switch to the BJP ahead of the Assam elections. Now a BJP candidate from Dispur, Bordoloi said his decision was not sudden but the result of growing isolation within the Congress. He alleged that after supporting Shashi Tharoor in the party's presidential election, his equation with some leaders changed, leading to neglect and humiliation. While he maintained that senior leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge treated him well, Bordoloi accused "second-line leadership" in Assam Congress of sidelining him. He also flagged issues of "lobbyism" and "trust deficit" within the state unit, alleging that a "jugalbandhi" of Gaurav Gogoi and Rakibul Hussain dominated decision-making.
