Abhishek Manu Singhvi Raises Questions Over Form 6, EC Functioning

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has stepped up the party’s attack on the Election Commission over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, citing 14 instances of written objections and disagreements allegedly raised by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi over the past 10 months. Singhvi questioned changes to Form 6, including the requirement for details linked to an applicant’s parents or grandparents in the previous SIR, and alleged that the changes were made without the consent of the other commissioners. He also raised questions over access to electoral registration systems, appeals filed by the Election Commission in West Bengal and the lack of publicly available dissent notes. Singhvi demanded that the written objections and dissent notes be made public, framing the issue as one of transparency and accountability in the poll panel.
