Humanoid Robot Beats Usain Bolt's 100m Record At Beijing Robot Games

Chinese humanoid robots have stunned spectators at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing by surpassing human records in sprinting and high jump. A humanoid robot clocked 9.39 seconds in the 100-metre sprint, beating Usain Bolt’s 9.58-second world record, while another robot cleared 2.88 metres in the standing high jump. More than 2,000 humanoid robots are taking part in the five-day event, featuring competitions in running, table tennis, football and other disciplines. The games highlight China’s rapid advances in humanoid robotics, even as experts say the technology remains largely focused on demonstrations, research and performances rather than widespread real-world use.
