Responding to strong criticism by BJP Chief JP Nadda calling the DMK, Dynastic Money Swindling Katta Panchayat that spreads hatred and division, the ruling Dravidian party in the state has hit back raising the issue of Home Minister Amit Shah's son holding a key position in the board of control of cricket in India (BCCI). Calling the BJP the master of division and hatred, the DMK slammed the BJP for what it called its failure to provide jobs to the youth.
Tacitly Training his gun on Chief Minister MK Stalin, Mr Nadda took on the state's opposition to New Education Policy and NEET saying "This happens when uneducated are at the helm". However, the DMK also said it would not stoop to the level of asking the educational qualifications of those at the helm at the centre.
Mr Nadda's public meeting at Karaikudi is part of the national party's bid to expand its footprint in the south ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections . The BJP has negligible presence in Tamil Nadu with no elected MPs from the state. It had suffered a rout in 2019 though it was in alliance with the AIADMK. Last year it won just 4 seats in state elections to the 234 member house. The DMK had swept the polls.
