Delhi Rains Bring Relief From Heat, Weather Body Issues Red Alert
Rain brought relief from the heat in Delhi on Tuesday afternoon, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue red and orange alerts for rainfall and strong winds across the city.
According to the IMD's district-level nowcast, parts of north Delhi were placed under a red alert, with moderate rain at several locations and heavy rain at isolated places likely, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and wind speeds of up to 70 kmph.
The rest of the national capital was put under an orange alert, with moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 50-60 kmph expected in most areas.
