Four days after the air quality index monitor at the US consulate in Kolkata signalled that the PM 2.5 count in the Park Street area was the worst in the world, the city's mayor held a press conference today to rebuke the US consulate and a section of the media for "wrong, motivated reportage". "Kolkata's air is the safest in the country for breathing," Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said.
