The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam Police, which was probing a case registered with the Assam CID against Pakistani national Ali Taqueer Sheikh — who is associated with a climate action group, CDKN — has completed its investigation and submitted its report this evening to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The case drew significant attention due to Sheikh's reported links with Elizabeth Colburn, the British wife of Congress MP and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Gaurav Gogoi. The SIT investigation gained further importance after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that Sheikh had entered India 18 times, and that initial leads gathered by the SIT could potentially reveal startling facts — including possible links to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.
