In poll-bound Assam, women voters are emerging as a decisive force, turning up in large numbers at political rallies and shaping the electoral narrative. With over 1.24 crore women voters, nearly half of the state’s electorate, female participation has consistently outpaced men in recent elections. In a ground report, NDTV’s Ratnadip Choudhury spoke to rural women who expressed support for the government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma, crediting it for delivering welfare benefits to the poor. Many women highlighted schemes like Orunodoi Scheme as impactful in their daily lives.
