World's 10 Busiest Airline Routes In January 2026: Mumbai-Delhi On The List

There have been so many flights planned between Mumbai and Delhi this month that the route has made it to a specific worldwide ranking. Global travel data platform OAG has shared details about the busiest airline routes around the globe for January 2026, with separate lists for domestic and international air travel. Among the domestic airline routes, South Korea's Jeju International (CJU) to Seoul Gimpo (GMP) has emerged as No.1. Its staggering 1.25 million seats this month is a 17% increase in capacity compared to the same time last year. On the same list, Mumbai to Delhi has been ranked 6th overall, with 7,04,747 seats. Within Asia, this is the 5th busiest route.

Two Indian cities also made it to the ranking for the top 10 busiest international routes (by region) for connections to the Middle East this month. Mumbai-Dubai was ranked 6th, while Delhi-Dubai was ranked 9th.

How Are The Rankings Compiled?

OAG defines the busiest air routes "as those with the largest volume of scheduled airline seats in the current calendar month." It takes into account data for flights in both directions on each route, which is collated in the first week of each month. As per OAG, "The data reflects the most recent full calendar month for the busiest scheduled domestic and international aviation routes in each category."
