Viral Video Shares A Look Inside Amrit Bharat Express Pantry Car With Modern Equipment

Along with the launch of the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train, the announcement of new Amrit Bharat express routes has made headlines over the past few days. There is a lot of buzz about these trains and their facilities. Recently, a video sharing a glimpse inside the pantry set-up of this train has taken social media by storm. The reel was shared by digital creator Himanshu Yadav. The standard non-AC rake of Amrit Bharat Express now generally includes 1 pantry car. The viral clip shows its devices and interiors.

The vlogger points out two water purifiers and a boiler inside. He explains that the water from here is used for making tea. He also moves the camera towards the chimneys and induction stoves in the pantry. He notes that any smoke generated during cooking is thus eliminated safely. Other equipment and amenities include two big refrigerators, a separate deep freezer, lots of storage space and water coolers.

What Are Amrit Bharat Trains?

Amrit Bharat trains are a new category of long-distance passenger services introduced by Indian Railways to modernise travel for non-AC passengers. Officially known as the Amrit Bharat Express, these trains are designed as an upgrade over older mail and express services, especially on busy intercity and long-haul routes.

The focus is on improving comfort, safety and reliability while keeping fares affordable. Amrit Bharat trains primarily operate with sleeper and unreserved coaches that feature refurbished interiors, better lighting, mobile charging points, improved toilets and smoother ride quality through modern couplers. While they are not high-speed or premium services, they are intended to offer a more dependable and comfortable experience for everyday travellers who rely on sleeper-class and general-class travel.

What Kind Of Food Is Available On Amrit Bharat Trains

As per official railway and IRCTC guidelines, food availability on Amrit Bharat trains follows the standard long-distance catering model rather than a fixed, premium dining format. On select services, trains are equipped with a pantry car, allowing freshly prepared meals to be served during the journey. On other routes, meals are provided through onboard catering staff or supplied from authorised base kitchens.

Passengers can also pre-book meals through IRCTC at the time of ticket booking or via e-catering platforms, with food delivered to their seat or berth at designated stations. The offerings typically include vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, snacks, tea, coffee and packaged drinking water, depending on the route and service duration. In addition, IRCTC has officially confirmed trials of improved catering models on some Amrit Bharat trains, with an emphasis on better hygiene and consistent food quality, though this is not yet uniform across all services.

Together, these arrangements ensure that passengers have access to regular, regulated meals on board, similar to other major express trains.
