Goa has always been the kind of place that promises something for everyone. For families, it's the perfect mix- sun-kissed beaches where children can run free, laid-back restaurants serving hearty meals, and resorts that let us slow down and recharge. My recent visit to Goa with my family was just the break I was looking for. After a hectic few days in North Goa, my husband, daughter, and I headed south in search of calm. That's how we found ourselves at The LaLiT Golf & Spa Resort Goa, and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip.

First Impressions & Architecture

The drive into the resort already felt like we were entering a different world. Spread across 85 acres of manicured gardens, The LaLiT is strikingly beautiful, with Portuguese-inspired architecture that makes you want to pause and soak in every detail- arches, doorways, tiled roofs, and courtyards framed with palm trees. It didn't feel like a hotel; it felt like an old-world palace set against the Arabian Sea.

We checked into our sea-facing suite, and the moment I stepped onto the balcony, I knew we'd made the right choice. The room was spacious, breezy, and filled with natural light. I could already picture us spending lazy mornings there with coffee, watching the waves roll in.

For larger families, the property also offers 3- and 4-bedroom villas with private pools. We walked past them one evening, and they looked more like independent bungalows than hotel villas- grand, self-contained spaces where you could easily spend a week without needing to step out.

Beach & Pools

The private access to Raj Baga Beach was one of my favourite parts of the stay. Unlike the crowded beaches up north, this stretch felt serene and untouched. My daughter loved running barefoot on the sand while we lounged under beach umbrellas. The property also has its own beach shack, though it was closed during the monsoon, when we visited. Water sports like jet skiing and banana boat rides are available in season.

Back at the property, the pools were a hub of activity. There's a dedicated kids' pool, a lively pool bar, and a main pool where the music and energy kept everyone in holiday spirits. We spent one whole afternoon by the pool, sipping cocktails while our little one splashed around-simple moments that made the trip so memorable.

Spa & Wellness

Of course, no holiday feels complete without some pampering, and I was lucky enough to sneak away to the Rejuve - The Spa. I chose a Swedish massage, and those 60 minutes were pure bliss. The spa had a calming vibe-minimal, serene, and spotless. My therapist was skilled and professional, and by the end, I felt like all the travel exhaustion had melted away.

What made it even better was that my daughter was happily occupied in the children's play area, which was colourful, vibrant, and stocked with books, games, and art activities. She even came back with a glitter tattoo and a big smile, which meant I could enjoy my treatment guilt-free.

Dining Experiences

The food at The LaLiT is worth writing home about.

Canacona: This 24-hour restaurant combines multi-cuisine favourites with authentic Goan dishes. Their traditional Goan thali was the real star. It was a huge thali with flavourful curries, fresh seafood, and sides that made me go back for seconds. Even their veg thali was commendable. The chef was kind enough to explain all the dishes to me.

OKO: The Pan-Asian restaurant was another highlight. We had the chef's special set menu, and it was a great gastronomic journey. I still remember the basil chicken dim sums and wok-tossed chilli fish, but it was the dessert, Tob Tim Krob, that left the biggest impression.

Sea BQ: Overlooking the ocean, this was where we had breakfast every day. The buffet spread was extensive, including South Indian staples, live eggs and dosa counters, cheeses, fruits, fresh breads, and more. It set the tone for the day, and I looked forward to it each morning.

Even the in-room dining was a pleasant surprise. One evening, we ordered just coffee and cheese toast, but it was served so beautifully that it felt like a little treat.

Beach Shack: Though shut during our visit because of the rains, I could imagine how lovely it would be in season, dining barefoot by the waves.

Outings Around

To be honest, The LaLiT is the kind of place where you don't really need to step out. But if you do, Palolem Beach is less than 3 km away. It's one of Goa's most famous beaches, lined with lively shacks and a vibrant market leading up to the shore. It makes for a fun evening outing, especially if you want to sample a more bustling slice of South Goa.

Shopping & Leisure

The resort also has an in-house boutique where I picked up kaftans, sun hats, and slippers, perfect for Goa, and reasonably priced. For exploring the sprawling property, we often hopped on the golf carts, though evening walks through the gardens became a ritual of their own.

Sports

The property has several golf course lawns, and I saw many people indulging in the sport. But if you are not a golf person, you can opt for other sports like tennis, football, cricket and indoor sports as well.

Hospitality That Stood Out

What tied the whole experience together was the warmth of the staff. From the servers who remembered our breakfast preferences to the spa team and housekeeping, everyone seemed genuinely invested in making our stay comfortable. For such a large property, it never once felt impersonal.

Looking back, what I loved most about The LaLiT Golf & Spa Resort Goa was how it allowed all of us to have our own kind of holiday. Together, we discovered a resort that knows how to blend luxury with warmth, space with intimacy, and relaxation with family fun. If Goa is the perfect family holiday spot, The LaLiT in South Goa is where you go to make that holiday unforgettable.
