An Unforgettable Hong Kong Adventure: A Must-Do Guide For Every Traveller
Hong Kong is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

There's something about Hong Kong that makes it feel like a perfect blend of East meets West. The buzz of a cosmopolitan city paired with tranquil views of the sea and mountains attracts tourists from all over the world. On my recent trip, I had the chance to experience Hong Kong in the most vibrant, immersive way possible — from luxury stays and thrilling theme parks to unique cultural experiences and a taste of local and international cuisine. Here's my personal guide to the must-do things in Hong Kong, inspired by this unforgettable journey.

A Smooth Start: Flying with Cathay Pacific

The trip began on a high note with a smooth and comfortable flight aboard Cathay Pacific. The airline lived up to its world-class reputation — impeccable service, delicious meals, and a serene ambience that made the journey feel effortless. By the time I landed at Hong Kong International Airport, I was refreshed and ready to explore.

Where to Stay In Hong Kong:

For the first leg of the trip, I checked into Four Points by Sheraton Hong Kong, Tung Chung — a stylish property that offers panoramic views of Lantau Island. The hotel's modern rooms and warm hospitality made it the ideal base to explore nearby attractions like Ngong Ping 360 and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Next, I moved to the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel, located right next to the iconic Ocean Park. This eco-friendly resort combines contemporary comfort with natural beauty — think lush gardens, an impressive aquarium-themed lobby, and a peaceful poolside retreat after a long day of sightseeing.

Culinary Delights Across the City

Hong Kong is truly a paradise for food lovers, and every meal on this trip was an experience in itself.

  • Lunch at Marina Kitchen, Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel, offered fresh, flavourful seafood. I was happy to see a separate counter for Indian cuisine, and their version of some dishes, like samosa, was quite impressive.
  • At Cafe Lantau, the all-day dining restaurant at Four Points, I enjoyed a hearty Asian-inspired lunch.
  • The semi-buffet dinner at Explorer's Club Restaurant inside Disneyland was another highlight — combining international cuisine with Indian cuisine.
  • For those seeking elegant dining, the Mirage Bar & Restaurant at Renaissance Harbour View Hotel served an exquisite lunch buffet with excellent service.
  • If you love variety, the lunch buffet at W Hong Kong and the breakfast at Sheraton TST are must-tries.

Hong Kong's culinary scene never disappoints — from authentic Chinese delicacies to gourmet global plates.

Exploring the Best of Hong Kong

My adventure began with the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car. It was a breathtaking ride that offers panoramic views of Lantau Island, the South China Sea, and the Tian Tan Buddha. At the end of the ride, Ngong Ping Village awaits with its serene atmosphere, charming shops, and cultural experiences.

For a dose of nostalgia, the Big Bus Tour was a fantastic way to see the city's landmarks — from Victoria Harbour to the bustling streets of Central and Kowloon. The Party Tram experience took things up a notch, combining Hong Kong's historic trams with a lively on-board celebration complete with music and lights.

One of the most unique evenings was the Horse Racing Welcome Dinner organised by MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Happy Valley. With the city skyline as a backdrop and the thrill of live races, it was an exhilarating glimpse into one of Hong Kong's favourite pastimes.

Theme Park Magic: Disneyland and Ocean Park

No Hong Kong itinerary is complete without visiting its two legendary theme parks. At Hong Kong Disneyland, and got to witness the 20th Anniversary Parade. It was a joyous celebration filled with music, floats, and beloved Disney characters. The highlight, however, was stepping into The World of Frozen, a newly launched attraction that brings Arendelle to life. The night ended with the “Momentous” Show at the VIP zone. The spectacular fireworks display lit up the sky in true Disney fashion.

Ocean Park Hong Kong, on the other hand, beautifully blends adventure, marine life, and conservation. Meeting the Giant Panda Twins in person was a heartwarming moment, while the park's thrilling rides and aquariums kept the excitement going.

Luxury on the Sea: Star Voyager Cruise

The journey reached its luxurious crescendo aboard the Star Voyager Cruise. Boarding from Ocean Terminal, I was welcomed with cocktails at the chic Velvet Lounge, followed by a sumptuous dinner at Lido featuring Indian and international cuisine. The “Colour My World” production show added a burst of entertainment to the evening. The next day, I enjoyed a gourmet Western lunch at Sophia, and later joined the Island Vibe Caribbean Pool Party — the perfect way to unwind under the sun. The stay at The Star Voyager was comfortable and full of excitement. I spent almost an entire evening shopping at the Duty Free Shops onboard.
