American rapper Jane Chika Oranika, popularly known as Chika, has sparked a viral online debate after accusing Delta Air Lines of damaging her luxury Rimowa luggage worth over $4,000. Taking to Threads, the artist shared photos detailing how her suitcases were allegedly mishandled. She added that a similar incident had already happened once before.
Rapper Chika Posted Images Of Her Damaged Rimowa Luggage
Recently, when American rapper Chika took a Delta Air Lines flight, upon landing, she was shocked to find her checked-in suitcases with big cracks on them. And these weren't regular suitcases. She was travelling with premium luggage from Rimowa, known for hefty price tags. According to her, the damaged suitcases cost over $4,000 (over Rs 3 lakh). She added that the bags she owned are no longer available in those colours, which means they can't simply be replaced.

In a series of posts on Threads, she accused Delta's baggage handlers of being careless, claiming they “trashed” her luggage in less than six months of her owning it. She went on to say she was done being quiet and planned to escalate the issue further, especially because she couldn't get the same bags back. To make her point clearer, Chika also shared photos.

Her Previous Set Of Luggage Was Damaged Too
She posted how the bags looked when she first bought them in September and then showed how they were now cracked and damaged. Chika stated that she's even more frustrated because it's not her first experience like this. She revealed that a previous set of Rimowa luggage in sage green had also been damaged on an earlier flight.
That time, the bags were declared irreparable and taken back under warranty. She was offered replacements, but not in the same colour. In fact, she explained that after that first incident, she opted for a more durable upgrade. But now, even those upgraded bags have been damaged in the same way. As of now, Delta Air Lines hasn't made a public statement about the situation.
Why Is Rimowa Going Viral?
We have all been seeing Rimowa all over our feed lately, not just because it looks sleek and expensive, but because it's widely known for its durability. The suitcases are made using aerospace-grade aluminium and high-performance polycarbonate, designed to handle rough travel conditions. It's also become a celebrity favourite, with stars like Lily Collins and Dua Lipa often spotted travelling with their Rimowa cases.

But here's the reality check. No matter how “indestructible” a suitcase is, air travel always comes with a risk. Once your luggage is checked in, it goes through multiple handling points, and not all of them guarantee gentle treatment. Even the most durable luggage can end up scratched, dented, or, in some cases, badly damaged.
