Swedish military sighted a foreign submarine in the Stockholm archipelago during a drill last year, just six months after the biggest submarine hunt in Sweden for over two decades, daily Dagens Nyheter reported today.

The Swedish military said on Sunday it had made three credible sightings of foreign undersea activity in its waters during the past few days amid reports of a suspected Russian intrusion in the area.

Sweden beefed up its military presence in the Stockholm archipelago on Saturday to scour its waters for "foreign underwater activity", a mobilisation of Swedish ships, troops and helicopters unseen since the Cold War.
