A social media post, by an accused in the killing of a Youth Congress activist five years ago, has put the ruling CPI(M) in Kerala in the dock, as opposition Congress today attacked the party and demanded a CBI probe in the sensational case.

Youth Congress workers clashed with police in Thiruvananthapuram. Police had to fire tear gas shells and lathi charge outside the secretariat just hours after state chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan refused a CBI probe into the political murder of Youth Congress activist Shuhaib, in Kannur on Feb 12.

Two pro-CPM activists have been arrested for their alleged role in the murder of a Youth Congress leader on February 12. NDTV has learnt from police sources that one of the two arrested was also an accused in the murder case of Vineesh, an RSS activist, in September 2016. Chief Minister of Kerala said on social media, an "impartial probe" is on.

A 30-year-old Youth Congress leader was murdered last night in Kerala's Kannur district. Police said a group of men allegedly first threw a country-made bomb, and then attacked the man with sharp weapons. Two other Youth Congress workers have been injured in the attack.
